HYDROGEN PEROXIDE OF HONEY ANTIBACTERIAL EFFECT AGAINST COAGULATES-NEGATIVE STAPHYLOCOCCI

ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to determine the minimum active dilution of two standardized type, representative honeys from two bees farm for 7 clinical isolates of coagulates-negative staphylococci.
An agar incorporation technique was used to determine the minimum active dilution, with dilution steps for 1% (v/v) honey and 5% (v/v) for sugar syrup .The plates were inoculated with 10 µL spots of cultures of the isolates.
the pasture honey inhibited at mean SD3.2± 0.7% (v/v),3.3 ± 0.5% (v/v) for the Manuk honey and 30.9 ± 1.9% (v/v) for the sugar syrup. Typical honeys are about eight times more potent against coagulase-negative staphylococci than bacterial inhibition were due to their osmolarity alone, but also the activity of honey by having its content

EVALUATION OF ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF FLAVONOIDS EXTRACT FROM CUCURBITA PEPO LEAVES

Investigation of antibacterial activity of flavonoids extract of Cucurbita pepo was carried out in this study on Gram positive and Gram negative pathogenic bacteria. The results exhibited variable susceptibilities of microorganism for different concentrations of flavonoids extract. The activity of this extract was associated with high concentration. Using plate methods, flavonoids extract of Cucurbita pepo had the highest effect and wide diameter of growth inhibition zones against serratia and Escherichia coli and it has no effect on growth of Bulkholderia pseudomallia

COMPARATIVE STUDY OF TRANSVERSE AND OBLIQUE PARTIAL RESECTION OF ESOPHAGUS IN DOG

This study has been done to evaluate the effect of transverse and oblique anastomosis on esophageal healing. Partial esophagectomy were performed on sixteen adult dogs, animals were divided into two equal groups ,in the group one a transverse anastomosis ,while in group two oblique anastomosis were done . Two layers of simple interrupted pattern were used to closed the anastomosis site, the first layer was oppose the mucosa and submucosa by simple interrupted suture with the knots tided inside the lumen and the second layer was appose muscularis and adventitia by simple interrupted suture using catgut (2.0). The results of histopathological and radiological were revealed that ,the healing of group two was faster than group one ,which manifested by collagen fiber formation with complete mucosal formation in a shorter time compared with group one . In addition to that the mean degree of stenosis was less in second group at 30 days post operation(14.24±0.21), in spite of no significance difference between two groups at the level of p≤ 0.05.

PREVALENCE OF MICROFLORA IN LAMB MEAT AND OFFAL AT BAGHDAD ABATTOIR

A study on a hundred samples of lamb meat and offal were done for a year. The bacterial microflora of lamb meat and offal from lamb 1-2 year old were isolated. The prevalence of microorganisms identified in this study was Staphylococci, Corynebacterium, Streptococci, Micrococcus, Salmonella, Escherichia coli and Yeast.
The positive isolates were high in spring and early summer while the positive isolates were low in autumn and early winter. Staphylococci and Salmonella were predominant over all positive microorganisms. Lymph nodes and kidneys yielded more numbers of Salmonella and Staphylococci than meat, liver and spleen. Fifteen Salmonella typhimurium (28%) out of 53 as a total number of Salmonella serotypes were identified. Out of eight was the total number of Staphylococci six (40%) of them were coagulase positive. This study covers the distribution of indigenous microflora of meat, and offal.

TREATMENTS OF DYSTOCIA IN KARADI EWES IN SULAIMANI PROVINCE

The study was conducted on 85 clinical cases of Karadi breeds of Iraqi ewes, suffering from dystocia, which were brought by the farmers to A.I center of veterinary Directorate and the Veterinary. Teaching Hospital, College of Veterinary Medicine, Sulaimani University to be treated during lambing season.
The age of animals ranged from 2-4 years, and the number of lambing ranged from 1-3 times. One of the following treatments was chosen;
1) Correction of fetal maldisposition and traction (n=25), 2) Medical treatment of ring womb when fetal membranes were not yet ruptured (n= 17) or 3) Cesarean section was performed, when delivering per vaginum was judged to be impossible (n= 43). Medical treatments consisted of a combination of calcium borogluconate 2% (40 ml S.C.) with Estradiol benzoate 17-β (2mg i.m.). Positive response been indicated when the method of treatment showed good prognosis. The results showed that cesarean section had a higher positive response (83.7%), while manual correction and traction showed 60% response. Poor response was observed in the medical treatment group (41.1%). It was concluded from this study that cesarean section was the safest method of the treatment especially if performed as early as possible.

TYPE TRAITS AND MILK YIELD GENETIC PARAMETERS AND BREEDING VALUES OF HOLSTEIN IN IRAQ

In this study a total of 928 Holstein cows daughters of 33 sires bred at Al-Naser Dairy Cow Station (60 km south of Baghdad) were used to appraisal the final score for the 14 linear type traits: rear udder height (RERUDHIH), teat length (TETLENGT), strength(STRENGTH), dairy form (DAIRYFOM), rump angle (RUMPANGL), body depth (BODYDEP), fore udder attachment (FORUDER), teat placement (TETPLACM), udder depth (UDERDEPT), udder suspension (UDERSUSP), rear udder width (RERUDWID), rear leg set (RLSET), foot angle (FOTANGLE) and rump width (RUMPWIDT).
Heritability of type traits ranged from 0.080 to nearly one, and different methods did not exhibit high variability in heritability estimates for each trait. Age showed significant affect on BODYDEPT and TETPLACEM. Day in milk showed significant effect on TETLENGT, STRENGTH and UDDERDEPT.
The genetic correlation among type traits ranged from -0.724 to 0.904. It was positive and high between milk yield and RERUDERWIDT, RUMPANGL and TETLENGT. However, milk yield negatively correlated with UDERDEPT and RLSET. The breeding values for sires in deferent traits ranged from -7.656 to 8.868, and showed a high variability among sires for each trait in this study

BACTERIOLOGICAL, CYTOLOGICAL AND BIOCHEMICAL

ABSTRACT
Bacteriological, cytological and biochemical testing were performed on synovial fluid of 100 (50 female and 50 male) slaughtered cows seen in Basrah slaughter house. The bacterial isolation revealed that the incidence of infected caw was 17(34%) in female and 11(22%) in male. Bacterial isolates include Staphylococcus aureus and Corynobacterium pyogenes. The results of biochemical testing indicate that mucin clot test varied from poor to fair clotting, the total protein of infected animals significantly higher than that of control group. While the cytological analysis showed that the total leuckocytic count was significantly higher (P<0.01) than the control group with high percentage of neurophils. Low level of synovial fluid glucose is noted in infected animal in compare to control group.

ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF ENTEROHEMOLYTIC ESCHERICHIA COLI FROM SLAUGHTERED COW'S LIVER AND LUNG

Liver and lung samples (25 for each) were collected from slaughtered cows and examend bacteriologicaly for the presence of Escherichia coli Eosin-Methylene Blue ( EMB ) and MacConkey agar positive culture (15 from liver and 12 from lung) were produced by cultivation of liver and lung samples Escherichia coli presence was confirmed biochemically in 53.3% of liver isolates and in 33.3% of lung isolates. Enterohemolytic activity was detected in 75%of both liver and lung isolates

SURGICAL TREATMENT OF EAR HAEMATOMA IN DOGS

The was conducted on 15 dogs of either sex and of different breed presented at my clinic (canine clinic* during a period of sex months.
Their ages were ranging between 2-3 years. The dogs showing unilateral or bilateral swollen ear that is Haematoma. The surgical treatment was done by making a longitudinal incision on in entire length of haematoma. After draining the blood or serum, cleaning the debris. Haematoma pocket flushed with saline or week tincture iodine. Horizontal interrupted materess suture placed parallel to the incision, the pinna was dressed with antiseptic then bandaged with compression bandage to keeping the ear in erect position. The suture removed after 9-10 days post operation. Bandaging will continue to 6 more days till the operated ear return to its normal condition.

TOXICOLOGICAL AND SOME REPRODUCTIVE ASPECTS OF THE EFFECTS OF ALCOHOLIC EXTRACT OF COCONUT ON MALE ALBINO MICE

In this study, two experiments had been done: Experiment (1), was designed to determine the acute toxicity of alcoholic extract of coconut ( Cocos nucifera ) fruit to the laboratory mice. Eight groups (6 mice each) of male albino mice were used in this experiment. The first group was drenched (1ml) physiological saline (as control group), while the other seven groups were given orally ascending doses (0.25, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3 g/kg B.W.) respectively. After (24hr), all groups of mice were inspected for the presence of dead mice. The results of this experiment showed no mortality in all groups of mice and the extract is not toxic.
Experiment (2), this study was designed to investigate the effect of alcoholic extract of coconut fruit on the efficacy of reproductive system of male mice. For this purpose, (24) mature male mice were allocated equally and randomly into three groups. Group (1) was given physiological saline and was considered as control group. Group (2) and group (3) were given 125mg/kgB.W./day and 200 mg/kg B.W. /day of alcoholic extract of coconut fruit respectively. All mice in the three groups received orally the appropriate treatment for 15 days. Post treatment, two criteria were chosen as indicators for the efficacy of the extract. The first one was relative testicular weight to body weight. The other one was the concentration of sperm in caudal part of epidydemis. The results of this experiment revealed that there was a significant (P<0.01) increase in relative testicular weight/body weight in group that was treated with 125mg/kg/day compared with control group. However, the second group which was treated with 200 mg/kg B.W showed significant decrease in testis weight /body weight as compared to control group and first group.
From the present study, one can conclude that the alcoholic extract of Cocos nucifera fruit does not toxic to the laboratory mice and the low dose (125mg/kg B.W.) causes enhancement in male fertility of mice, while higher dose (200mg/kg B.W.) causes reduction in sperm concentration and relative testicular weight/body weight compared with the first dose.

HISTOLOGICAL , ANATOMICAL AND EMBRYONICAL STUDY OF FUNGIFORM PAPILLAE IN TONGUE OF IRAQI SHEEP

The purpose of this study was to determinate The location, arrangement , the total number of fungiform papillae and number of those papillae in different regions of Twenty Tongues of Iraqi sheep (males) in different ages(two, four month embryo ,five month old and two year old) .Histological sections of fungiform papillae in different region from tongues were studied.
Bapillae diameters and number of taste buds was assigned for each sample. The results showed that the papillae arise during embryological stage was thickened epithelium forming protrusion on the tongue surface. No significant differences was observed in the total number of the fungiform papillae in all ages. All papillae were distributed in the rostral part of the tongue, The papillae diameter showed significant increase respect to ages in all region. The taste buds were showed significant difference in number between 4 month embryo and 5 month old, while no significant between 5 month old and 2 year old. The number of taste buds for each papillae was more in cranial and caudal part compared with the middle part. The diameter of taste buds showed difference according to ages in all regions.

HISTOCHEMICAL CHANGES ON SMALL INTESTINE MUCOSA INFECTED WITH GIARDIASIS IN WISTER ALBINO RATS

Brush border enzymes activity were decreased in group infected with giardiasis comparing with the control group, probably represent a direct effect of this parasite on the brush border of the enterocytes. The present study indicated that mucosal enzymes (alkaline phosphatase and lipase) levels were altered in infected rats after (1-2) weeks post infection compared to control group. concentration of both enzymes were increased during infection and this phenomenon was taken as mucosal marker for malabsorption.

ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF ESCHERICHIA COLI FROM DOG'S FECES AND STUDY OF THE CHARACTERISTIC PROPERTIES OF IT'S PRODUCED ANTIMICROBIAL AGENT

ABSTRACT
Escherichia coli was isolated from 56 dog fecal sample (69.14%) out of 81 collected samples. The antibacterial activity of E. coli isolate was primarily and secondarily screened on sold and liquid media. The results of primary screening showed that 56 isolates had antibacterial activity against tested gram positive and negative standard strains. By secondary screening E. coli isolate was able to produce antimicrobial agent in fermentation media at different incubation conditions, but larger amount of produced antimicrobial agent was obtained at 37Co, 24h, 180rpm by used seed and fermentation media. Different methods were used to determine the purity and to characterize the produced antimicrobial agent physically, chemically and biologically. The results of purity test revealed that the produced antimicrobial agent appeared as pure compound with only one spot in paper chromatography. The result of physical, chemical and biological characterization showed that the produced antimicrobial agent was peptide material with low toxicity 2350mgkg body weight.

PATHOLOGICAL EFFECT OF DEXAMETHASONE ON HEALING OF RABBIT WOUND

In this study 15 rabbits were divided into three groups ,each group contain five rabbit were submitted to surgical section in the skin layer 3-5 cm long after anasethesia and cleaning the part from the hair by sheaving . The surgical section was made by scable and then the wound sutured by silk band 2.5 cm and then administrated the dexamethasone 1 mg / Kg body weight of animals of second and third grougs of this study . After that the skin spicemen were taken for histopathological sections to preperd slid.
The first group was considered as control with no administrated of dexamthasone , the second group treated as 1 mg / Kg body weight dexamthasone and sections were taken after 7th days , the third group were also treated with dexamthasone at the 1 mg /Kg and the skin sample were taken after 14 th days.
The present study it was found that dexamthasone have no effect on the wound healing after 7th days or 14th days but the collagenization , epithelization and fibroblast content were less in the dexamthasone group compered with control group . The vasicularity and the degree of inflammatory cells were more intense in the dexamthasone group compared with control group.

EFFECT OF WATER SOLUIBLE FRACTION (WSF) OF CRUDE OIL ON SOME BIOCHEMICAL CHARACTERS OF JUVENILES COMMON CARP, Cyprinus carpio L.

This study was carried out juveniles common carp, Cyprinus carpio to determined the effect of (WSF) of crude oil on blood glucose and hemoglobin of blood values and glycogen of liver and muscles exposed to sub lethal effects for using different concentration. Study showed lower levels of blood hemoglobin and glycogen of liver and muscles, while blood glucose values have risen when exposed to concentrations of crude oil used.

CLINICAL AND HISTOPATHOLOGICAL INVESTIGATION OF IVERMECTIN TOXICITY IN PIGEONS

The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical signs and histopathological changes of acute toxicity of ivermectin in the centeral and peripheral nervous system liver, kidney, pancreas and heart of pigeons after s/c injection with ivermectin .Eighteen bird were divided into three equal groups.Group A were injected with 8mg,group B were injected with 10 mg and group C served as control group.The results showed markedy reduced of water and food consumption ,somnolence and death of treated pigeons.Nervous signs were restlessness, ataxia, un steady gait, tremor and recumbent. The histopathological changes included degeneration of nerve fibers of spinal cord and sciatic nerve .Degeneration , necrosis and vacuolation were noticed in liver, kidney and heart,as wll as proliferation of bile duct was also seen in liver.

ISOLATION, IDENTIFICATION AND BIOTYPING OF BRUCELLA SPP. FROM MILK PRODUCT AT BASRAH PROVINCE

Three hundred milk product samples were collected from different locations of Basrah province. By using enrichment broth technique and Brucella selective medium nine isolates (8 from soft cheese and one from cream) where isolated. No Brucella strain was isolated from ice-cream. The species and biotypes of these isolates were determined and it was found that 4 isolates of Brucella abortus biotype 4 and 5 isolates of B. melitensis biotype 2. Antibiotic sensitivity test showed that all isolates were sensitive to streptomycin, gentamycin, kanamycin, rifampicin, trimethoprim, trimethoprim with sulfamethoxazole and tetracycline, some strains showed resistance to doxycyclin, cephalexin, ampicillin and erythromycin. Brucella isolates also showed growth in different range of temperature and pH.

SYNTHESIS, STUDIES THEIR QUANTUM MECHANICAL PROPERTIES AND BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY OF NEWER ANTIPYRIN DERIVATIVE AND ITS (CU2+) COMPLEX

The synthesis of (C16H14N3O2) ligand and (Cu2C32H28N6O12S2) complex are prepared in this work . The newly prepared compounds were characterized by IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis . The determination of the antimicrobial activity of ligand and its complex was carried out on sample of Escherichia coli , Klebsiella pneumonia , Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus cereus . The quantitative antimicrobial activity test results proved that all the prepared compounds are very active against Bacillus cereus and that complex very active against Escherichia coli.. Quantum mechanical calculation confirmed the assumption of stability of prepared compounds which agreement with antimicrobial activity results .
